Dear Parents,
We had a great week talking about our feelings. We talked about what made each of us happy, sad, angry, afraid, and surprised. We drew pictures about each one of our feelings. We then put them all together to make a Feelings book.
During our meeting time we
tossed a feelings cube that included six different feelings such as: Happy, surprised, angry, afraid, and
sad. We took turns tossing the cube and
making a facial expression that showed up on the cube.
We then talked about that emotion.
Some of our favorite stories
that we listened to this week were:
Wibbly Pig is Happy!, by Nick Inkpen, "No!" said Joe, by John Prater, and Not Fair, Won't Share, by Sue Graves.
During music this week, with
Michelle, the children practiced for their final concert. They sang their songs, they used their box violins and they learned how to act during a performance.
We looked at pictures of "Lupine " flower gardens and then created our own. The children first used pastel crayons to give their paper some background texture. They then used two shades of green and long brush strokes to create the leaves. Next they learned how to dab paint on their paper by using their thumbs. The children were surprised at how spectacular their flowers looked, with such a simple technique. They were all so happy with their accomplishments this week.
