Dear Parents,
We continued our spring theme by reading What Kinds of Seeds Are These?, By Heidi Roemer. We then talked about what plants need to grow, such as: Healthy soil, water, and sun light. We then planted seeds, and made edible dirt cups for our snack. We have placed a copy of the recipe in your child's cubby.
We also conducted a science experiment. We placed three stalks of celery in different containers filled with colored water. We observed the celery every day. We noticed that the leaves on the celery turned colors. We now know that water travels up the celery stalk to the leaves and that is how plants drink. Ask you child about it.
We then used the end of the base of the celery to paint with. The children were surprised when they lifted the celery off the paper and saw a beautiful rose-like design on their paper.
During music this week with Michelle and Yina, the children learned new songs about spring. One called "Singing in the Rain (A Root Cha Cha)" and "The Spring Is Here." Each of the songs have dance moves, which the children were able to follow. They also drew Popsicle stick rhythms, which they copied from the rhythms that the teachers placed in front of them. The children did a great job following directions.
We also celebrated Julia's fourth birthday. Thank you to her family for the delicious treats.
The children are really enjoying the beautiful spring weather, by playing outside on the swings and slide, running around the playground, and blowing bubbles.
Love,
Ms. Bonne
